Fun Passementerie and Upholstery for Project Design 2014 for Ronald McDonald House of Long Island
Hello Fabulistas! Im always about the little details and I love embellishments. They can be subtle or bold, but they make all the difference! One of my most important vendors for trim is Samuel and Sons Passementerie. They specialize in trim and only trim, whether its fringe, glass beads, tapes, buttons, cording, tie-backs, and more, 100% of their effort goes toward the most fashionable trim in the market. Lampshades are an oft-missed opportunity, so I always like to make them special. Here I used Samuel and Sons wood bead trim on the bottom with a chocolate-brown tape with subtle silver thread. They add just the right balance of earthiness with a glamorous touch.
I used a different wood beaded trim on the throw pillows on our window seat. It brings out the playful patterns on these pillows. JJ&J Custom Home made the pillows to help create this happy corner for resting and recharging. Thanks JJ&J Custom Home!
I envisioned soothing, happy upholstery for this bedroom suite, so I went to none other than Christian Fischbacher for this exciting fabric combination to bring some major personality to this cozy armchair. The Swiss textile company has beautiful fabrics and has been operating since the 13th century quite an accomplishment. Once again, I used Samuel and Sons trim for the finishing touches on the chair and ottoman. Notice the beautiful tape with mother of pearl buttons on the bottom of the chair. I used another of my favorite trims from them on the lumbar pillow.
It was the magic of Martin Albert Interiors, Inc., that pulled it all together by making this armchair and ottoman. You cant tell from the picture, but its not just any old armchair, its a recliner, so the family staying in my suite can literally take a load off their feet, lie back, and relax. Here I am with Martin Albert founder Al Harary in their Manhattan workroom. P.S. Yes, thats the chair in the room during the upholstery process!
