Hello Fabulistas! Summer is upon us in New York and there are lots of fun activities to partake in, even if you’re not going out east for the weekends. Here are a few activities and design trends I’m excited for this month. Shakespeare in The Park This is one of those fabulous New York traditions that you should experience… even if you have before! (Did I mention it’s free?) “Much Ado About Nothing” starts this month and “King Lear” starts next month. Definitely put this on your summer to-do list!

Coral

This shade is always a mainstay when it comes to warm weather. This year, though, it seems to be front and center for the summer! I love how it refreshes a room. Here, coral livens up traditional decor without making it lose its period style.

Moroccan-Inspired Canopies I adore outdoor rooms and all of their entertaining potential. Or, you can simply relax and have some quiet time in nature! There are many ways to create one of these spaces, but I fell madly in love with these canopies from a Lonny post on achieving the Bohemian Moroccan look.

Governors Island

This little island is a quick ($2 round-trip) ferry ride away from South Ferry in Manhattan. It’s open again for the season and already brimming with lots of sun-filled activities. It is less crowded than Manhattan’s parks and has lots of things to see. Check out Fort Jay, Castle Williams, and many public art installations. It’s a beautiful, relaxing day trip!
