Hello Fabulistas! It’s been an amazing summer in New York so far and I’m looking forward to so many more wonderful things in store. Some may say that all the action leaves the city and heads out East. That’s not the case! Here are just a few fun happenings that are hot in July. Jeff Koons: A Retrospective Few contemporary artists’ work is as recognizable to the general public as Jeff Koons’. But this talented artist’s spectrum of work is much more than inflated balloon dogs! This retrospective opened up a few days ago at the Whitney Museum of Art and you don’t want to miss it. It lasts through October 19, but I suggest spending a summer afternoon indoors appreciating this artist’s work.

HBO Bryant Park Summer Film Festival

There’s always one fabulous outdoor activity happening each evening in NYC in the summer. And Bryant Park is always hosting one fun thing or another. During the summer, the HBO Bryant Park Summer Film Festival reigns over the Monday outdoor movie scene!

IKEA’s PS2014 Instagram Instagram is one of my favorite tools for discovering new trends from other interior designers , design editors , and more! So I love what IKEA did with their new Instagram account ikea_ps_2014 . Their Russian ad agency built this account, with its PS2014 collection. But the awesome catch about it is that when you tap and click on each piece of furniture, it leads to its own Instagram account! There are a million ways to style each of these pieces and this capitalizes on those wonderful design possibilities.

Holiday Hamptons House 2014

There are a few times a year when designers get the chance to collaborate in one space for a fabulous cause. This time around it’s the Holiday Hamptons House 2014 benefitting The Breast Cancer Research Foundation. It’s in Sag Harbor and features many beautiful rooms, including a living room and dining room designed by James Huniford (shown). I love the lofty look!

Ronald McDonald House of Long Island Project Design 2014

Charitable causes may be hot this month, but they’re always fabulous to me. Stay tuned for the collaborative Project Design 2014. It’s also for a great cause, the Ronald McDonald House of Long Island! I’m raising money to fund a bedroom suite I’m designing in hopes it brings comfort to the families whose children are treated for cancer and other terminal diseases at nearby hospitals. Please donate to the cause to help me realize this calming, positive space.
