With summer travel season kicking off in a few short weeks, it’s hard not to get into a vacation state-of-mind, especially knowing hotels’ plush towels, sleek decor and decadent robes await you. But who says you have to hop on a plane to get the luxury? One of the latest trends in home décor is hotel-inspired, so even if you’re not packing a suitcase this summer, you can still sleep in five-star bliss.

Neutral Start: Hotels have to please the majority, so many go with a safe, neutral base – think creams, whites and browns for your walls, furniture and linens. Boutique hotels, which are more daring when it comes to design, may have one wall covered, usually behind the bed, in vibrant wallpaper.
Furniture: Because of their limited space, hotels capitalize on utilitarian furniture. Go for furniture with multi-purposes, such as the transformer desk seen below that can double as a sideboard and features a corkboard, multiple drawers and storage and a slide-out computer desk.
Bathrooms: Hotel bathrooms beg for bubble-bath filled nights, while oversize mirrors allow for easy morning prep. Turn yours into hotel heaven with shelving for easy-accessible plush towels and products, as seen here in this bathroom design by Tania Scardellato of

Asian-Inspired: Relaxation plays a major factor in hotel design, and many deck out their décor with Zen-like accessories and furniture.
Pillows: Ever wonder why hotels have so many pillows on the bed? It’s because, oftentimes, that’s the only pattern presence in the room. Take a cue from this design trick and brighten up spaces with textured, patterned and colorful throw pillows.Oversize Art: The design of the room can usually be summed up in the one oversized piece of artwork in the room. Pick a piece that truly speaks to you and display it proudly.
Lighting: Many hotels include dimmers into their bedside sconces, which can create a relaxing atmosphere with one twist of the switch.
