Simplifying NYC: Top Picks for Macarons for Valentine's Day

Hello Fabulistas! As much as I adore chocolate, this year I'm craving macarons for Valentine's Day instead. I've encountered my fair share of chocolate delicacies, but colorful macarons are always such a delight. I love giving and receiving this (gluten-free!) gift. Here are my favorite New York spots to shop for this vibrant dessert. macaron

Maison Laduree You've probably heard of these world-famous macarons. They really are some of the best! This glitzy Paris export has an uptown location and is opening another location in Soho. Don't those chocolate macarons look delightful? 864 Madison Ave., Upper East Side. laduree Sugar and Plumm This spot is fabulous for all kinds of sweets. I always go straight for the macarons when I stop by, though. The Strawberry Poppy Seed and Rosewater Lychee are two of my favorite flavors. 377 Amsterdam Ave., Upper West Side; 257 Bleecker St., West Village. sugar La Maison du Macaron I always visit this shop when I'm in the neighborhood. One of my clients lives nearby so I find myself there often. It's also worth nothing that they use all-natural ingredients, so there's even less guilt! 132 W. 23rd St., Chelsea. maison Vendome Macaron One could argue that Vendome serves their tasty treats to some noteworthy names, including Martha Stewart, Tiffany & Co. and Cartier. (You have to trust Martha's taste!) Sak's, 611 5th Ave., Midtown East; 409-411 Atlantic Ave., Boerum Hill; Smourgasborg, Williamsburg vendome Financier Patisserie Once I started working on this list, I knew that I had to include this patisserie. There's so much to love! Their coffee, croissants and of course, macarons, are all delicious. For Valentine's Day this year, they're featuring these raspberry and chocolate macarons with raspberry ganache sandwiched inside. I can't wait to try one of these specialties! 14 locations. financier Almondine Bakery This bakery has been crowned as having the best baguettes and croissants in the city by New York Magazine. La Maison Du Chocolat I went in there for their chocolates and discovered their delicious macarons! Any true chocoholic pays homage there. (I would know.) 63 Wall St. #4, Manhattan; 51 W. 49th St., Manhattan; 1018 Madison Ave., Manhattan. maison Francois Payard Bakery This bakery has several delightful specialties. You can try your hand at making your favorite treat with their Makecaron kits (with the cookies baked and ready inside the box), or treat yourself to a truffle macaron. 116 W. Houston St., Manhattan; 3 Columbus Circle, Manhattan; 210 Murray St., Manhattan. francois Epicurie Boulud This food market has a large variety of scrumptious things, including Viennoisserie, charcuterie, cheeses and naturally, macarons. Be warned, it's difficult to go in the Upper West Side market and buy just macarons! 1900 Broadway, Manhattan. epicerie_boulud_macaron_set1 Macaron Parlour These are not your grandmother's macarons!
