Hello Fabulistas! Today's finds are specifically for my fellow New Yorkers, but it really is something everyone should think about it. Thrift shopping. It gets a bad rap! Yes, some things can be kind of...gross...but some finds are fantastic! If you look in the right places, at the right time, you can get one-of-a-kind pieces, antiques, vintage pieces, and so many other gorgeous things! I often find star pieces at thrift shops and flea markets that make it into my clients homes and my own home. Today I'm listing my top 20 NYC thrift shops, but if you don't live in the NYC area you must find the best thrift shops in your town. I promise you, you will not be disappointed! 1. Housing Works Housing Works is one of my favorite shops in NYC. In addition to the fabulous finds, proceeds help those affected by HIV and AIDS. Recently Housings Works has expanded to help others in needs, it's not just limited to HIV/AIDS victims. So, you're shopping for a great cause! There are several shops throughout the city, plus a bookstore in Soho. I must also point out, with Housing Works, you can shop online! One thing you should know about this wonderful store, they are very selective, so you are picking from carefully curated items. Various locations.

2. Vintage Thrift Vintage Thrift in Gramercy is such an exciting place to shop! You never know what you'll find, but you can be assured that it's always going to be vintage and unique. I often pick up interesting jewelry pieces and accessories, but I also find furniture from years ago! Proceeds benefit The United Jewish Council on the East Side. 286 Third Ave. between 22nd and 23rd streets, Manhattan. 3. Monk Vintage Thrift Shop Monk Vintage in Williamsburg is a great stop if you're looking for clothing and fashion accessories. I often find handbags and small things and, although they are fab to wear, you can also accessorize your bedroom and closet with them. Think OUTSIDE of the box and you can find inspiration anywhere! 496 Driggs Ave. between 9th and 10th streets, Brooklyn. 4. Every Thing Goes Clothing The name of this shop says it all—it's all about clothing! Every Thing Goes Clothing in Staten Island is perfect if you're trying to find clothes that are on trend at a low cost. And as I just mentioned, you can also accessorize your home with these things! (Hint: Hang a beautiful dress on a door to create a soft focal point in the bedroom!) 140 Bay St., Staten Island 5. Cure Thrift Shop Cure Thrift Shop is another shop I love because I'm shopping for a cause. Proceeds are donated to the Diabetes Research Institute, and as we know, Diabetes is a rapidly growing problem in the U.S. The shop is located on the east side of Manhattan, near Union Square. If you're in the area you must stop by! This shop has more than just fashion. It has furniture, too! 111 East 12th Street, Manhattan.

6. Sunnyside Thrift Shop Sunnyside Thrift Shop is located in Sunnyside, obviously! If you live in the area you probably know about this place already. It's great for...pretty much everything! You can find books, furniture AND brand name clothes (like Marc Jacobs!). I love it there! 45-14 Greenpoint Ave., Queens. 7. Life Boutique Thrift Life Boutique Thrift in Park Slope is another stop if you're looking for brand name clothing at a steep discount. Big brands...low cost...it's just perfect! 515 5th Ave. between 12th and 14th streets, Brooklyn. 8. Bnai Tzedukah Thrift Shop If you're in Park Slope visiting Life Boutique, you may want to swing by Bnai. It's not exactly around the corner, but if you're looking for a deal on high end fashion pieces, you MUST check it out. Bnai also has vintage, so you'll get the best of both worlds! 66 5th Ave. between Prospect Pl. and St. Marks Pl., Brooklyn. 9. St. Luke's Thrift Shop St. Luke's Thrift Shop is really a hidden GEM! Located in the West Village, St. Luke's has a fabulous deal. For $20 you can BUY THE BAG! Yes! You pay $20 and fill it with as much as you can! Be smart, and strategize. I like to fill the bottom of the bag with soft pieces, because I can push them down and add more! 487 Hudson St. between Grove and Christopher streets, Manhattan. 10. No Relation Vintage No Relation Vintage in the East Village is truly a vintage shop. If you love T-shirts, this is your spot. I like to pop in here to get things for nieces and nephews. You can get a collection of fab vintage things at a low cost! 202 1st Ave., Manhattan 11. Film Biz Recycling Film Biz is my NUMBER ONE stop for home accessories! Film Biz recycles old props and prevents pollution. Located in Brooklyn, you can find almost anything here...old picture frames...interesting chairs...even chandeliers! You can find props for a movie, or for your home! 540 President St., Brooklyn.

12. East Village Thrift Shop East Village Thrift Shop is a fab all-in-one shop. It's a bit like the Salvation Army and Goodwill because it has a lot of miscellaneous knickknacks, which is perfect if you're shopping for home accessories. If you're thinking out of the box, you can get creative and find a use for almost anything. And yes, they have cute clothes too! 186 2nd Ave. between 11th and 12th streets, Manhattan. 13. Unique Boutique The Unique Boutique is pretty awesome. It's unbelievably organized and they run sales each week! There is a huge clothing selection at a low cost as well as a nice selection of home decor items. 2588 Steinway St., Queens. 14. Odd Twin Okay, I kind of LOVE the Odd Twin. Also located in Park Slope, it's my go-to for gifts. Everything in the store has personality, so you can't really go wrong. They also have outfit basics and designer pieces. And of course...shoes! 164 5th Ave., Brooklyn.

15. Fox and Fawn Fox and Fawn in Brooklyn is a designer's dream because the store is organized by COLOR! Yes, color! I know, you probably want to run over right now! It's easy to find what you want, and of course, you're getting a great deal! 570 Manhattan Ave., Brooklyn. 16. Stella and Dallas Stella and Dallas is a small little place in Greenwich Village. Although it's small, it has tons inside! I tend to find things mostly for the 40s and 50s, but everything I find I want to buy. I have to stop myself sometimes, there is so much to choose from! 218 Thompson St., Manhattan. 17. Green Village Used Clothing & Furniture Green Village in Bushwick is FAB for furniture. And barware! You may have to fix up a few of the furniture pieces, you'd have to do that at most vintage shops, but there's a great selection here. They also have many accessories to choose from like photo frames. 276 Starr St., Brooklyn. 18. Angel Street Thrift At first, you may not realize that Angel Street Thrift is a thrift shop. It looks like an upscale boutique but the prices will surprise you! The proceeds from Angel Street benefit those affected with HIV/Aids and substance abuse issues. 118 W. 17th St., Manhattan.

19. Rosebud Vintage Rosebud Vintage in Crown Heights has a fabulous selection of clothing and shoes from the 50s and 60s. (Hello Mad Men!) Every time I step inside I feel like I've gone back in time. The shoes are my favorite! 726 Franklin Ave. between Sterling and Park Pl., Brooklyn. 20. Brooklyn Flea Yes, the Brooklyn Flea isn't really a store, but it's a fantastic place to shop for anything vintage, or antique...or new! The prices are fabulous and you'll find more than you imagined. It's open every weekend and I can promise you will have a great time shopping! Locations vary by season.
