My Favorite Balenciaga Moments
Balenciaga has been on the lips this past week of even those unfamiliar with the Spanish fashion house that was founded almost a century ago. If you keep tabs on fashion like I do, you’ll already know that Nicolas Ghesquière, a sparkling example of a Creative Director-driven reinvention, is leaving the brand after working in the post since 1997. This news has left fashionistas wondering who will take over the position after Nov. 30, and how that person will change the brand they’ve grown to love. via WWD I’ve had my eye on the brand for a long time because of my background in fashion and as a fan of the feminine, yet edgy styles. One of the latest looks I loved is actress Kristen Stewart’s structural dress in the brand’s ad for its first fragance, Floralbotanica. There’s something so architectural about that bottle! Kristen Stewart has long been an unofficial face of the brand and pal to Ghesquière, doubtlessly making Balenciaga relevant for the young fashionistas who first got to know her through Twilight . She showed her support by wearing one of his S/S 2013 looks on the red carpet promoting her movie, On The Road, right before his announcement to leave the company. via Glamour The house’s accessories speak for themselves, celebrity endorsement or not. I admire a fab accessory, and Balenciaga’s line of motorcycle bags have become an iconic part of the brand. via Barney’s Balenciaga fashions have always had an edge under Ghesquière’s helm. These tough metallic pants from S/S 2007 are beautifully balanced with the flowing top and sleek beauty look. So fab! via WWD It’s amazing how mixing sleek and cozy textures together can create a whole new look that you wouldn’t expect, like these separates in the F/W 2009 collection. via WWD Did I miss any of your favorite Balenciaga fashion moments?
