This week, I’m happy to share the lovely work of decorative painter Alissa Jo Caputo of the mother/daughter business, Simply Chic Interiors . “My mother, Josephine Caputo, started her faux finishing business in 1996,” says Alissa. “After graduating with my Associates Degree in advertising and marketing communications and my Bachleors Degree in cosmetics and fragrance marketing, I became co-owners with her. I handle all of the estimates and faux finishes and she is able to concentrate on her true passion..the murals!” See some of the ladies’ work below: Alissa Jo Caputo | Simplifyingfabulous.com This baby boy’s nursery was “sueded.” Below the chair rail is a custom blend cornflower blue glaze; above the rail is striped using same technique of sudeing in the stripes but in a deeper version of base coat. I required a flat base coat of a clean true beige and then taped it off to make a custom border to mimic the crib set. The fan gave it a cute nautical feel, which worked perfectly with the rest of the room! Alissa Jo Caputo | Simplifyingfabulous.com This is in a salon waxing room. The stripes are texturized and pinstriped in gold leaf oil paint for a “real” gold look. Any decorative piece placed on top of stripes adds a polished look to the room. In this case, we put a gold framed mirror to finish off the look! Alissa Jo Caputo | Simplifyingfabulous.com For this contemporary space we added an icy blue wall stain ever so lightly all throughout the foyer to make a subtle statement. When the wall lights are on, the difference in stain tones are noticeable. Alissa Jo Caputo | Simplifyingfabulous.com This little girl’s room is whimsical, girly, light and airy! The pretty pink hues were color washed on with freehand brush strokes in pearlesecent paint. The finishing touch for this super feminine look was the addition of swarovski crystals in the center of the swirls! Alissa Jo Caputo | Simplifyingfabulous.com For a dermatologist’s exam room, orangey-beige suedeing was topped with cherry blossom branches. Alissa Jo Caputo | Simplifyingfabulous.com For this formal dining room, I added multi-toned stripes underneath the chair rail. I lightly texturized every other stripe, added a crystal-clear glaze at the center pinstripe and an applique stencil, for a look is simple, and elegant, perfect for any formal dining area.
