Hello Fabulistas! From the wallcovering to the lampshades, I customized every touch throughout my RMHLI bedroom suite for Project Design 2014. I wanted to make my room one of a kind for the special families staying here. I tapped my friend Lori Weitzner of Weitzner Limited for her stylish looks in papers and fabrics to bring a few extra dashes of personality to the suite. I asked her for her magnetic linen wallpaper, yes that’s right, it’s magnetic! With fabric in hand, I went to Chelsea Frames to create a magnet board for the room. Chelsea Frames is my go-to to frame maker for my clients’ artwork. Many of the galleries use them, as well. They have a wide variety of every kind of frame imaginable, and most importantly, they are nice, accommodating, and creative. Here I am with the frames I selected for the room. Of course, I didn’t select just one frame. I had to make it unique, so I put together two frames to create the perfect detail to complete the room. I can’t wait for you to see it installed!

While I was working with Lori Weitzner in her studio, I eyed this fabulous open-weave textured paper and I just had to have it! My vision was to use this open-weave paper to create a lampshade for the lamp on the nightstand between the beds. To do this, I went to my good friend, Lisa Simpkin of Blanche P. Field , to make this incredible shade for me. Blanche P. Field is a custom lampshade maker and because of Lisa’s creative eye, they are able to do anything and everything to make unique shades. I couldn’t be more thrilled with the result! The shade gives the lamp a magical effect that I hope will bring a smile to the faces of the families staying in my room at Ronald McDonald House of Long Island. Thank you, Blanche P. Field for once again coming through by making one of my crazy lampshades. You are the best lampshade company I’ve ever worked with!

This entire project has been incredibly inspirational to me. I can’t wait to reveal every detail of my bedroom suite over the next two weeks before the gala on Oct. 9. Please donate to the cause today and help families staying at RMHLI.
