If you read last week’s Design Insider, you know that I’ve been busy with the fall events calendar! It’s such a fabulous time for the interior design community. Everyone is a-buzz with fall decorating, new collection launches, crisp color palettes, and holiday preparations (yes, already!). It’s one of my absolute favorite times of year!
Just looking at the next few months gets me so excited that I HAVE to share with you some of the events I’m planning on attending in NYC. Pencil them into your schedules and maybe I’ll see you there!
The City Modern Festival (October 1-7)
This spectacular week of interior design celebration includes studio tours of up and coming designers, expert panel discussions on such subjects as women in design (woo-hoo!) and current trends, cocktail parties, and even home tours across Manhattan and Brooklyn! http://dht.dwell.com/city-modern
10th Annual Open House New York Weekend (October 5-7)
If you can’t make the entirety of the City Modern Festival…you HAVE to at least attend the 10th Annual Open House Weekend, which happens during the end of festival week. Not only do you get to tour beautiful homes across New York City, but you’ll tour historical landmarks, sustainable skyscrapers, and more! And even better…it’s free! http://ohny.org/
Architecture and Design Film Festival (October 18-21)
After all that home touring, I think I’ll be craving a little bit of relaxation time! Well, what better way to sit back and relax than to attend a screening of one (or more!) of the 25 films being shown at this year’s Architecture and Design Film Festival! Who knows? You might even get to meet one of the directors! http://adfilmfest.com/portal/ny2012#
Holiday House (October 25-November 18th)
Holiday House is one of my favorite annual events because it brings together two of my favorite things: design and charity! Each year, designers participate by using their own lives and holiday memories as inspiration to create beautiful tabletop settings in a historic mansion showhouse in the Upper East Side. Proceeds go towards breast cancer research. http://www.holidayhousenyc.com/about/
The Salon: Art + Design (November 7th-12th)
Admission to this event is only $20 a day, and for that, you get to see pieces from 53 leading international design and art dealers from all over the world. Many of these exhibitors are showing in New York for the very first time for this event, so don’t miss it! Even better, the proceeds benefit the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club. http://thesalonny.com/
Did you pencil everything in? I hope so! See you there!
