Simplifying Fabulous! with Monique Neeley , the Inspired Momma

ABOUT Monique Neeley is a Virginia-based social media strategist, military wife and mom (to an adorable ballet dancer)! She channels her love of tech and media into helping others navigate the growth of social media through her enonoymous company, Monique Neeley and on Twitter as @InspiredMomma .

Robin Baron: You are a social media powerhouse! What aspects of your work as a Digital Media Manager fits in with our motto that “Confidence Begins at Home?” Monique Neely : I work remotely, so for me I have to feel comfortable in the space I live, work, and play. My home provides me with lots of light! I love the open space and many windows in my home and home office. This provides me with a sense of comfort and joy. RB: Tell us about your Twitter handle, @InspiredMomma MN: I created that handle to uplift others. I know that many people may share quotes each day on Twitter. I truly believe it is a choice. I wake up each morning and will choose a quote or saying that means something to me at that moment. You just never know who may need to hear what it is you’re saying at that very second. RB: What would you say to someone who is intimidated by social media? MN: I would let them know to focus on one network that makes them feel comfortable. Take baby steps. If you do not understand a certain social network do your research watch the conversations and see how and what you can do to contribute authentically. RB: What inspires your home décor? MN: I love an open floorplan and an open space with lots of windows and hardwood floors. I believe light just brings some sense of life into my world. I am a casual work at home, wife, and mom, so when I utilize the space that I live, work, cook, and so much more. I need to feel like I dwell in a home that provides me with great style and most of all where I am comfortable.

RB: How would you describe your home? MN: I would have to say it is more of a “Comfy Chic” style of living, if that is a term in home décor. We have the most comfortable furniture mixed with great modern wall décor throughout our home. RB: What design elements in your home have you personalized? MN: I would have to say the paintings in my home that represent a visually satisfying effect that represents each room with it’s own personalized touch. RB: What do you love most about your home and why? MN: I love the open space and the three different levels of our home. It allows us more room for us to roam and not get in one another’s way. We have over 27 windows in our home, so that allows for great lighting. Best of all,we’re one block away from the beach!

RB: Does your family have any unique decorating traditions with the home? MN: Yes. My husband is an officer in the Navy and we have room just for all of his accomplishments with plaques, pictures, and awards. RB: What are the most personal spaces in your home? How do you make them special? MN: I would have to say the bedroom. This is the place where I can relax and let my hair down so to speak. I love candles, and what I will do is buy candles that match the style and feel of our bedroom. I love all types of designs and styles. I also love decorating with small vases that compliment the color scheme in my bedroom.
