I love Fridays…not just because it means the weekend is right around the corner, but also because it’s time for another Fab Friday! This week, I’m chatting with fellow blogger Cristin from Simplified Bee . Robin Baron : Welcome Cristin! Tell me about Simplified Bee. Cristin Bisbee Priest: As a busy mother of two, I understand the desire for a home to be functional, yet beautiful. I saw a need for “functional” interior design and knew homes could be orderly without sacrificing style. As a result, I launched Simplified Bee® in January 2009 offering residential style-savvy functional design services in the San Francisco Bay Area. I believe surrounding yourself in beautiful, organized spaces reduces stress, makes you happier, and inspires healthier living. RB: What inspired you to start your blog? CBP: In May of 2009, after a client pushed me to do so, I started the Simplified Bee® Blog . With limited marketing funds, the blog was originally a placeholder for a website that would be developed later that year. To my surprise, the little blog grew and I grew to love writing about interiors, organizing and entertaining. I have also really enjoyed “meeting” bloggers and readers from around the world.

RB: What excites you most about the world of home décor and interior design? CBP: Currently I am obsessed with textiles and in particular, Eastern hand block printed textiles from designers like John Robshaw. Developed in Asia centuries ago, the tradition of hand block printing continues today despite industrialization and computers. Perhaps it’s the human touch and imperfections in this primitive art form, which make block printed textiles so esteemed. RB: If you could hop on a plane and go anywhere in the world right now, where would you go? CBP: I’d be on a plane to the Hawaiian island, Kauai. I long for the warm breezes, amazing food and slow pace of island life. RB: What are your top three guilty pleasure foods? CBP: French fries, pumpkin pie, and chips & guacamole. RB: What’s your favorite New York spot? CBP: The Museum of Modern Art. RB: If you got invited to the Oscars, what would your red carpet look be? CBP: What a fun question! My look would be classic, Hollywood glam… it’s the Oscars! Anything vintage by Versace, Oscar de la Renta, or Givenchy would do. RB: How would you describe your own personal home décor style? CBP: It’s casual, eclectic and has evolved. I love to mix styles and a little new with old.
