Simplifying Fabulous!with Lauren Cherkas of Artistic Tile

Robin Baron: Artistic Tile emphasizes the client and their specific design vision. What design elements in your home have you personalized? Lauren Cherkas: My entryway features our Horta mosaic. It’s very special and extremely personal to me, as that is a design that I have loved from the moment it was created by my cousin, Artistic Tile ‘s Founder and CEO, Nancy Epstein. 
Another personalized element is my hanging chuppah. A chuppah is a cloth canopy under which a Jewish couple stand during their wedding ceremony. Before I got married, I asked all the people I love the most in the world to decorate a square of fabric. Those pieces were sewn together to create the chuppah my husband and I got married under. We hung this very special, very personal chuppah up on our wall and it is something truly unique – no one else has this very specific wall hanging created by the people closest to me.
RB: You juggle a successful career and family life as a wife and mother of two kids! How do you find time to rest, relax and recharge? LC: Unfortunately I don’t in my regular life, but when I have the opportunity to take beach vacations, I love to fall asleep in the bright sunshine…sunblock always on! RB: Are there pieces in the Artistic Tile collection that embody the Simplifying Fabulous! mantra:…Confidence Begins at Home? LC: Commitment to a pattern is a bold, confident choice that would show a homeowner is secure in their taste. Patterns like our Damask, Grenada and Danse (pictured below from left to right) are great examples of Artistic Tile patterned tiles. 
RB: Describe your daily “getting ready for the day” or “winding down” routine? LC: I basically fall asleep with my iphone in my hand and wake up with it under my cheek! Good customer service is a 24 hour activity for me.? RB: What are the most personal spaces in your home? How do you make them special? LC: My closet!
