Hello Fabulistas! The second annual IFDA NY Take a Seat Auction was a thrilling night full of glamorous chair designs and generous people! My daughter Chloe was my muse in transforming a plain chair into the glamified “Chloe Chair.” It was one amongst a multitude of exclusive chairs auctioned off Wednesday night. Proceeds benefited Habitat for Humanity as part of the “Helping Heroes at Home” initiative, along with IFDA professional chapter development. My—and my generous vendors’—hard work paid off in a covetable chair. It was an extraordinary experience to have my daughter Chloe there that night. I’ve waited my whole life to share something like that with her. There was so much of her in the chair, I just had to buy it for her!Doesn’t the original Chloe look beautiful next to her namesake?

Creating a fabulous, custom chair for a great cause didn’t happen overnight! I trusted some of my favorite vendors to help me with this very personal piece. Christopher Hyland , always generous, donated some of his luxurious fabrics that Chloe helped me select on an excursion to the D&D Building. I then enlisted Paul Baron von Urban of Baron Upholstery no relation, to lend his expertise in upholstery, and his devoted, painstaking hours for the rhinestone application. He bejeweled the legs beautifully and even delivered the chair for me. Together, we were a great team and voila !, the “Chloe Chair” was born!

The whole project was fun. Paul and I even had fun delivering the chair together!
