Today’s Fab Friday is a very special treat. I’m chatting with the fabulous Ashlina from The Decorista, one of our daily blog must-reads. Like me, Ashlina is an interior designer in the most exciting city in the world – New York – and she’s loving every minute of it!
Read on for an inside look into the creative mind behind this inspiring blog.
Robin Baron: Welcome, Ashlina! Tell me about The Decorista.
Ashlina Kaposta: It’s my happy place. A blog where I write about the things that I love so much mainly pertaining to interior design. I find inspiration daily in so many different ways, and I love to share it with the world.
RB: What inspired you to start your blog?
AK: Actually, I can remember reading other blogs and thinking to myself how much I relate to these people. “I should be doing this too!”
RB: What’s on your daily blog to-do list?
AK: Every morning I wake up I say to myself…lets go get inspired! I get inspired by everything. Living in New York City provides so many things that move my creativity.
RB: What’s your current interior design obsession?
AK: Doors. Well, its more of an architectural element I guess, but I have been documenting the doors around New York. The shapes, the graphics, the details, the elements…it all inspires me so much. It’s definitely my current obsession: http://thedoorsofnewyork.tumblr.com/
RB: What’s your most prized possession?
AK: My bible. Hands down. It’s no secret that I am passionate about my faith, but my bible. I just love to read it.
RB: What’s your best pinch-myself moment?
AK: Oh, there have been so many throughout my career…but the number 1 is the fact that I live in NYC, own my own decor business and get to do what I LOVE everyday. I pinch myself over it every single day. I am beyond blessed!
RB: If you could hop on a plane and go anywhere in the world right now, where would you go?
AK: The beach. Probably somewhere in Mexico.
RB: If you got invited to the Golden Globes, what would your red carpet look be?
AK: Ooh, fun question. I would go old hollywood glam and get very dolled up. Probably a long white dress.
RB: How would you describe your personal home décor style?
AK: Its always evolving and changing but I love glamour. I also love cozy with a little dash of NYC edge.
RB: Last but not least, what does fabulous mean to you?
AK: Oh I love that word. Fabulous to me means living fully expressed as who you are. Being all of you and letting every part of you shine. Being selfish when you need to, yet giving all of your amazingness at the same time. Like diamonds, just shining!
