Fabulistas, this year’s Kips Bay Showhouse is gorgeous through and through! All of it is so spectacular, but if I had to pick one favorite, it would be the space dubbed, “Midnight Manhattan”, designed by my colleague,
Charles Pavarini, III .The three rooms (a living area, bar and bathroom) are a sophisticated juxtaposition of vintage and modern – one of my favorite design approaches. It’s filled with a modern take on mid-century design.Words that immediately come to mind for me are: sophisticated, elegant and modern. The whole room is truly a work of art. Each piece and finish was selected specifically for this space and they all fit together like a puzzle with a delicate balance of symmetry. And, if that’s not enough, Charles informed me that the room is an homage to his grandfather and father who owned Pavarini Construction — a construction company that built major skyscrapers in New York City. It doesn’t get more quintessential New York than that!I believe this space really does reflect a Manhattan lifestyle. What do you think?
Here’s a collage of some of the elements of the room. As you can see, Charles has repeated the skyscraper architectural element throughout as an elegant homage to his grandfather and father.
Charles Pavarini, III, is known for his innovative use of lighting and LEDs.
