Hello Fabulistas! Spring is the busy season for the New York design world and one of the next big events is the second annual IFDA NY Take a Seat Auction . Proceeds from the auction benefit Habitat for Humanity and IFDA chapter professional development. I was asked to design a unique chair for this charitable evening. My inspiration was my muse, my teenage daughter, Chloe. Of course I just had to name the chair the “Chloe Chair” in her honor! She loves cool looks with a bit of glam… and the color turquoise. I bet you can tell from my design choices!Take a look at this “before” shot because it won’t look like this when we’re done! I’m giving the chair a glam overhaul. You’ll barely recognize it!

Spoiler alert! I’m using some fabulous Christopher Hyland fabrics, which my daughter helped me pick out on our shopping day together at the D&D Building . Christopher Hyland’s collections represent the ultimate luxury fabric in the design industry. So it was an obvious go-to in creating my special “Chloe Chair!” I give a big shout-out of thanks to Christopher, who was so generous in donating these fabrics. I just adore working with him and his team.

And thank goodness we had the talented and generous Paul Baron von Urban from Baron Upholstery (no relation!) to work on the glamification of this everyday chair into my special, fabulous “Chloe Chair.” Talk about over-the-top… just look at these legs sparkle after all the painstaking bejeweling is complete! Thank you Paul, I owe you!
