On the Rise: 10 Designers to Watch in 2013 (Part I)

If you make it in New York, you can make it anywhere...that goes the same for interior design, too! This fresh crop of young designers, featured in Vogue, are making a mark on some fabulous homes in our great city and I can't wait to see what they have coming up next! Anastasia Ratia The Finnish-born designer is known for her cool and calm designs to counteract the quick pace of the city. Interiors is in her blood, her grandparents founded the textile company Marimekko. She also dabbles in textiles through a partnership with Holland & Sherry. Bonus: She's a believer in keeping fresh-cut flowers around the house. What a kindred spirit!

The power of three--Stefanie Brechbuehler, Robert Andrew Highsmith, and Ryan Mahoney--made incredible things happen in the public spaces and bar of the Wythe Hotel. They concentrated on making the factory-turned-hotel feel like a home away from home with domestic touches. Can you believe this is their first commercial project? The demand for their firm is sure to keep growing!

Bonus: Highsmith designed the sculptural lighting fixtures seen throughout the space.

Lilly Bunn

If you're a stylish young parent in New York City, you must call on Lilly to decorate your pad. She combines chic and kid-friendly designs that don't scream "spill-proof fabric" like so many do.

Bonus: She spent five years in the fashion department at Town & Country before pursuing her true calling of interior design.

Meg Sharpe

The designer struck out on her own by collaborating with a friend on his restaurant, The Lion. Her style is masculine and can be a little macabre, which makes for some interesting, homey details worth pondering over.

Bonus: Meg started her career in international store development for Ralph Lauren.

Did I miss any important NYC-based up-and-coming young designers? Let me know in the comments below and I'll include them in my second installment in January!
