Marking a Milestone: 2022 in Review and a Sneak Peek at 2023

Greetings, Fabulistas!!!

As 2022 draws to a close, I like to carve out some time to think about not only where I’ve beenbut also where I’m headed. The lessons of the past year always serve as invaluable guidance and inspiration for the future (not to mention they always get my creative juices flowing)! Allow me to share with you some design highlights from 2022, plus a sneak peek at what I’m most excited about for 2023!

The Past

Robin Baron poses with the High Point Market Sign

Hello from High Point Market, Fabulistas!!!

One thing I was thrilled to notice over the past year is that the design industry is really rebounding—in a way that I haven’t seen since the pandemic started. At the October High Point Market for example, there was a palpable sense of energy and excitement in the air. The design community (which I like to think of as one big family!) was so happy to be together, mixing and mingling at various market events and eagerly shopping the new designs on display. And that in and of itself is significantmultiple new introductions, including licensed collaborations, were unveiled at market—it felt remarkably like a pre-Covid show!

The Present

A mixture of materials, (fabric, wood, stone, and more), all in neutral colors, laid out together.

An inspiration board for one of my current design projects, layering neutral hues and textures for an organic feel.

Of the various projects I am working on, what’s really speaking to me design-wise are these beautiful, textural looks that feel organic, yet modern. I’m loving the combination of fabrics that appear hand-loomed paired with crafted furniture, expressed with a thoroughly modern perspective. In addition, I’m drawn to natural materials right now—particularly stones—which I’ve been using to create dramatic floor-to-ceiling fireplaces, among other things.

I’m also very excited to have designed a new collection of lighting to extend my licensed collection with the Minka Group, the Robin Baron Collection. Minka debuted my first collection last January at Lightovation in Dallas; these new additions will also be unveiled at the show in January. If you are there, be sure to stop by and take a look! And while you’re there, Minka is hosting a fab party to celebrate my new lighting introductions on Monday, January 9 from 3:00-6:00 PM in their showroom TM4103, and you’re invited to join! Aside from dancing and delicious eats, they’ll be serving my signature cocktail, The Barontini!

The Future

Speaking of licensed collaborations, I’m thrilled to announce that there are more in the works for 2023! Stay tuned for details to come…

While I don’t always make a New Year’s resolution, I do like to set goals. And for 2023 that means continuing to create beautiful, inspiring designs for my clients and licensed collections!

Also, I want to give back to the design community that holds such a special place in my heart by way of mentoring: this could mean helping a fellow designer understand how to begin and expand a business, how to get clients, or even how to start licensing.

Whatever your personal vision for 2023 may be, I wish you a happy, beautifully designed, and fabulous new year!!!

Xoxo,

Robin
