Design Insider: Iconic Furniture Designs

Hello Fabulistas! When you're looking for a special piece for your home to take it from pretty to fabulous, you may want to consider an iconic piece of furniture. Some of the most classic furniture pieces can be the way to go to complete your space. There are some outstanding pieces that have become very well known in the design world. I love to use these pieces when I'm designing for my clients. They make all the difference! Arne Jacobsen Egg Chair The Egg Chair is one of my faves. I love using this in almost all rooms: living rooms, bedrooms, reading nooks...it's so diverse! This comfortable chair is great for lounging, and because it swivels, it can be turned to face a window, or face in to talk to family and friends. The classic piece was first used in Royal Hotel in Copenhagen in 1958, and hasn't lost its popularity since! iconic furniture designs

Eames Molded Plastic Chair These chairs look too stylish to be comfortable, but honestly, they're one of the most comfortable chairs! The deep seat and raised front allow you to sit in the chair while reducing pressure on the back of the thighs, so you can sit for a while without feeling uncomfortable. I like to use this as a dining and kitchen chair, a makeup chair and even an office chair. It's available in several colors, so you can find one that fits your home!

Saarinen Table Before Saarinen designed his iconic pedestal base, homes were filled with legs, and legs and legs! He created this base to free the home of so much clutter and simplify design. What a genius! This table works well as a dining and kitchen table, foyer table and work table. I've used it as a conference table and have never heard a complaint! There's also a smaller version available, which can be used as a side table.

Ghost Chair The Victoria and Louis Ghost chairs are FAB. They're wonderful for dining chairs, desk chairs, makeup chairs, side chairs in a bedroom, just about anything! I tend to use the clear version for women, as they look more feminine, and black for the masculine men! The style of the chair is balanced so it's pleasing to everyone. iconic furniture designs

Satellite Chandelier Although the Satellite Chandelier was created in the early 1960s it's been showing up in many high-end designs recently. The iconic fixture is glamourous, and makes a room shimmer when lit. The design was inspired by the first satellite that launched in 1957 by the Soviet Union. I'm surprised I haven't seen it on Mad Men yet! iconic furniture designs
