The thing that I love most about fashion is that it’s always changing! There are always new designs to long after, meaning lots of inspiration for interior design. Even during the holiday season we can get our extra fashion fix outside of parties by taking in all the Pre-Fall runway shows. After all, what good is a well-organized closet if it isn’t filled with fabulous pieces? Jason Wu I’ve been following this young designer closely since The First Lady wore his ball gown to President Obama’s inauguration ball. The man knows what women want from fashion, between a successful Target fashion collaboration and dressing majorly chic fashionistas on the red carpet like Michelle Williams and Diane Kruger.Wu obviously channeled 70’s glam into his collection with Jerry Hall waves and approved looks. Eel skin, leather and mink created fabulous and ladylike silhouettes throughout the collection. The Jason Wu girl always seems to be on her way to some fab event or dinner. And with this amazing mink chevron coat, even a trip to the grocery store would be a glamorous affair! You know how much I love green and this shade is such a perfect version of the new Pantone color of the year, Emerald Green, that you’d think Wu whipped it up at the last minute! Who needs a real party dress when you have such a fab coat? There’s nothing I don’t love about this look. Who knew that sequin pants were so wearable? It’s perfect for wearing when you want some flash while you dash from one holiday party to another. Somehow, the trademark Wu ladylike bow at the neckline isn’t lost in all the leather and sequins! To me, this is the ultimate party dress! Long and ladylike, the gold beading keeps things interesting in a floor-length look. As Diana Vreeland always said, “The eye has to travel” and the wavy pattern certainly makes that happen! Oscar de la Renta No one does elegance quite like Mr. de la Renta. His dresses are the epitome of fab and I always start thinking of which celebrities should wear his looks to movie premieres and award shows as soon as I see them! Now, this is my idea of a suit! Black, a modern shape, sequins and lattice tights to go along with it. This obviously won’t work for every office, but the Oscar girl definitely pulls it off and makes it her own! Plus, did you see those bedazzled slippers? So fab! When you wear something formal, you want to make sure that it moves with you, or else you’ll look like an extremely elegant cardboard cutout! This look might be a little tougher to pull off, but like I say, confidence begins at home. That goes for your closet, too! All this shimmer and beading is channeling Marilyn in Some Like it Hot in a shape that’s more forgiving for those of us without her enviable curves. This version of the Oscar girl definitely is going somewhere…that night and in life! Zac Posen I also love this designer for theatrical dressing. He’s not afraid to use a sculptural shape in his looks. As an interior designer, I can really appreciate that fab aesthetic! The young designer went for more daytime looks than usual. After all, I guess the Zac Posen girl has to go out in the daytime sometimes! Look at those sheer, flowing sleeves with the slim cut of the dress. Absolute perfection! You can never be a wallflower in Posen’s creations. When I’m designing a room, I like to use at least one aspect that really draws in your attention…like this fab tulle neck line! This dress could easily be in a solid color and all about the silhouette. I love how he went for a dynamic, luxe pattern paired with this eccentric shape to make it really over the top!
