Work with your color tones Once you’ve narrowed down your comfort colors, pick several tones of those colors. I like to use softer colors on walls and richer tones in furniture and accessories. Look at the color wheel In order to pick accent colors for your main colors, just look at the color wheel. Depending on the look, I like to pick complementary colors as my accent colors, which are colors opposite from each other on the color wheel.
