ABOUT: Shirley Moulton clearly focuses on making the world a better place. As the President and CEO of Tuck Shop, LLC, a holding company, in the Lifestyles of Health and Sustainability (LOHAS) industry, founded in 2005 and focused on the personal growth and development market, her fundamental belief is that people should be happy. Shirley believes that corporate growth is dependent on happy employees delivering superior products and services resulting in happy customers, suppliers and shareholders. Robin Baron: Tell me about what you do... Shirley Moulton: I am the Founder of a Social Enterprise called The ACADEMi of Life in New York City, dedicated to exploring the art of living. The ACADEMi of Life was created to provide a place for people to gather, to discuss the things they care about, and the things that matter most in life that were never taught in school. At the ACADEMi of Life we offer classes, workshops and conversational events on life’s big topics that deepen our lives and understanding of ourselves to make the world a better place. Topics such as: How can we fulfill our potential? How to design the life you love? How to live a happy life? Can work be inspiring? Why does community matter? How to make love last? We don’t have all the answers, but we are intent on raising the key questions and pointing you in some of the right directions. Whether attending one of our classes or reading one of our recommended books, we’ll present you with a variety of ideas – from philosophy to literature, psychology to the visual arts – that are guaranteed to stimulate, provoke, nourish and console. RB: What do you love most about it? SM: I am thrilled that since our launch in 2010, over 3000 people have participated in our programs. We’ve helped countless people change their careers, start new businesses, increase their business, deepen and repair their relationships, develop their personal resilience and compassion, learn new skills from writing to meditation, explore their creative sides, have new adventures and make new friends. I also love that the attendees or members of The ACADEMI and are lifelong learners who are eager to discuss ideas to perfect their lives. And finally I love that I am becoming a better person as a student of The ACADEMi.

RB: How would you describe your own home décor? SM: I have an Eclectic mix of traditional and modern furniture and accessories. I usually get a lot of my accent pieces and art from the countries to which I travel. My home is very minimalist, very light, airy, cheerful and colorful. There is original art and photographs on every available wall and orchids decorate every room. Also have a lot of decorative symbols and books everywhere!

RB: What do you love most about your home and why? SM: It’s peaceful, it’s my sanctuary. I have pictures of my family all around. They are my strength, my purpose and my rock. My life would be nothing without them in it. RB: What is the one thing in your home that everyone comments on? SM: My ‘Love Box’….this is a product created by The ACADEMi of Life.
